The short version: the free plans look alike on paper, but the scan cap and the ads make them work very differently once a code is printed.

Free plan: the 500-scan cap and ads

Both free plans give you 3 dynamic codes, but only QR TIGER limits how often they can be scanned. QR TIGER's pricing page lists “500 scans per dynamic QR code”, “Basic scan analytics” and “With QR TIGER logo popup” for Free, with no credit card required. Its FAQ adds that QR TIGER ads display when people scan codes made with “the free trial version”.

500 scans sounds like a lot until a code does its job. A table tent in a busy café or a flyer in a mailbox campaign can pass that in weeks. The pricing page doesn't say what someone sees after the 500th scan, so check with QR TIGER before you print a free code on anything that lasts.

linqr's Free plan has no scan cap, no ads and no page in between: a scan goes straight to your link. The limit is 3 active codes at a time, with no trial and no card. Link changes are unlimited too.

What happens when the plan ends

This is the most important difference: QR TIGER dynamic codes are tied to an active plan, and linqr codes are not. QR TIGER's pricing FAQ says “Your QR codes will only stop working once the plan expires”, and that the dynamic codes you get with a yearly plan “are valid only for that period of time”. Its FAQ adds that if your plan expires, your data is kept for a maximum of 1 year.

On linqr, codes have no expiration date and the Free plan has no trial. The terms of service, linked in the footer, set out what happens to linqr codes when Pro ends. Prices and code limits

QR TIGER sells several plan sizes by number of codes; linqr has one paid plan with no code limit. These are the USD prices shown on QR TIGER's pricing page on September 25, 2026, when we visited from Poland. The page also showed prices in PLN, so what you see may differ.

Paid QR TIGER plans are listed as “Ads-free” with unlimited scans and downloads. linqr Pro costs $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year and gives you unlimited codes, PDF and EPS files, 4096 px downloads and a full year of stats; there are never ads, on any plan. See linqr pricing.

Design, files and statistics

Both tools let you put your logo on a code; linqr gives more print formats on Free. QR TIGER has a QR code with logo generator, and its FAQ lists PNG and SVG downloads.

linqr's Free plan includes your own logo or a quick icon, colors, module and corner shapes, and frames with label text. You download PNG, JPG, WEBP or SVG up to 2048 px; Pro adds PDF and EPS with a print size in centimeters. A real decoder checks the preview and shows Scans correctly before you download.

For stats, QR TIGER lists “Basic scan analytics” on Free and “Advanced scan analytics” on paid plans. linqr Free shows total and unique scans, a 30-day chart, top 3 countries and devices, without counting bots or link previews. Pro keeps 365 days with cities, systems, browsers, languages, a day-and-hour heatmap and CSV export.

Who should pick QR TIGER, who should pick linqr

Choose by how many codes you need and how long they stay in print.

• QR TIGER fits if you need many dynamic codes on one plan (200 on Advanced, 600 on Premium), want unlimited static codes for free, and will keep paying for as long as the codes are in print.
• linqr fits if you print a few codes and want no scan cap, no ads and no trial, and want to change their link any time for free.

How to switch from QR TIGER to linqr

A printed QR TIGER dynamic code encodes QR TIGER's short link, so it can't be moved to linqr. Make a new linqr code for the same destination and replace the old one at your next print run, ideally before your plan or scan allowance runs out.

1. Copy the destination URL

   In your QR TIGER account, find where the code points and copy that address, not the short link.

2. Paste it into the creator

   Use the creator on this page or the free QR code generator. Add your logo, colors and a frame, and wait for Scans correctly.

3. Save and download

   Click Download QR code and save it to a free account (Google, or email and password). Pick SVG for print.

4. Test and replace

   Scan a test print on two phones, then swap the old code. From now on, change the link in My codes with Change link.
