QR code for Instagram
Make a QR code for Instagram right here: paste the link to your profile, a post or a reel, and the creator puts the Instagram icon in the middle for you. You can change the link any time, so the sticker in your window survives a new username, and the flyer from your fall promo can point to next season's reel.
Your code will appear here
Copy your profile, post or reel link
A code opens one address, so decide first what people should see: your profile for business cards, doors and packaging, or a specific post or reel for a promo flyer.
Your profile link
Your profile address looks like instagram.com/yourusername. To copy it in the app, follow the steps from Instagram's help center:
- Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right.
- Tap Share profile.
- Below your profile card, tap Copy link.
A post or reel link
According to Instagram's help page on post links, in the app you tap Send below the post, then Copy Link at the bottom. On a computer, click Options next to the post, then Copy link.
Private account? Instagram says your profile and posts are then visible only to followers you've approved, so someone scanning your flyer hits a locked account. For print, a public account works better.
Make a QR code for Instagram in 4 steps
Paste your link
Paste it into The link to turn into a QR code at the top of this page, or tap Paste.
Check the icon in the middle
This page adds the Instagram icon for you. If it's gone, open Logo and pick Instagram under Quick icons. To use your own mark, click Replace file on the same tab; our page on the QR code generator with logo has the details.
Pick colors and a label
Under Style, the ready-made style Sunset gives an orange-to-pink gradient close to Instagram's colors, and the icon stays put. Then open Frame, choose Label below and set Frame text to something like “FOLLOW US” (up to 24 characters).
Click Download QR code
Wait for “Scans correctly,” save the code to your free account and download it. Use SVG for print and PNG for screens and social graphics.
Instagram's own QR code vs linqr
Instagram has its own QR code on your profile card: tap Share profile, and Download saves the card to your phone. Here's how the two compare, based on what Instagram's help center describes:
| Feature | Profile card code | linqr code |
|---|---|---|
| Where it leads | Your profile | Any link: your profile, a post or a reel, and something else later |
| Where you make it | In the iPhone and Android apps (Instagram says it isn't available to everyone yet) | In a browser, on a computer or a phone |
| Design | Card background color or photo | Ready-made styles, colors, dot shapes, a logo and a frame with your text |
| Files | The card as a video or a QR code | PNG, JPG, WEBP and SVG; PDF and EPS on Pro |
| Scan stats | Not covered in Instagram's help | Scans, unique scans, countries and devices |
| Changing where it points | Not covered in Instagram's help | Any time, with no reprint |
For one sticker that points to your profile, Instagram's code is fine. A linqr code makes sense when you want to count scans, send your printer a vector file or change the destination later.
Link a post or reel for a campaign, then switch
Because the destination can change, one printed code can follow your marketing calendar. Say a bakery prints 500 flyers for its fall menu with a code to the reel about its pumpkin bread. In November it clicks Change link in My codes and points the same code at the holiday pre-order post; in January, back to the profile. The flyers on fridges around town keep working, and earlier links appear under Previous links in the Change link window, where Use again brings one back.
Switch the code before you delete the post it points to, so nobody scans their way to a missing page.
Where to place it
A QR code for Instagram works best where people have a minute to look you up:
- Shop window and door: a sticker at eye level with a reason to follow, like “New arrivals every Friday.”
- Packaging and bags: customers scan at home, once they already like what they bought.
- Flyers and posters: link a reel that shows the product, or a post with the giveaway rules. A longer demo fits a QR code for a YouTube video better.
- Events and markets: a table sign at your farmers market booth or trade show, next to the samples.
- Business cards: a small code on the back next to your handle. Our page on the QR code for business cards covers what else fits there.
Track scans
Every linqr code has its own stats, so you know how many people came from a specific print run. Put one code in the window and another on the flyer, and after a month you'll see which one pulls more people. Our guide on how to track QR code scans shows how to set that up. Running a QR code for your Facebook page too? Print both side by side and see which profile people pick.
Questions
How do I get a QR code for my Instagram?
Copy your profile link: in the app, tap Profile, then Share profile and Copy link. Paste it into the field at the top of this page; the creator adds the Instagram icon in the middle. Change the colors or add a frame with your text if you like, then click Download QR code, save the code to your free account and download a PNG or SVG.
Can I use the Instagram logo in the middle?
Yes. This page adds an Instagram icon for you, and it's also under Logo in Quick icons. It's only a picture; the code still opens your link. Meta's brand guidelines require permission to use Instagram's marks in print larger than 8.5 × 11 in, outdoor ads, radio or TV, so check them before printing a banner, or use your own logo.
Can I link to a specific post or reel?
Yes. In the app, tap Send below the post, then Copy Link; on a computer, click Options next to the post and Copy link. Posts from a private account only open for approved followers, so use a public account for print. When the campaign ends, point the code back to your profile under My codes.
What if I change my username?
Your profile address contains your username, so a new username means a new address. Copy the new profile link, then in My codes click Change link and paste it. Printed codes open the new address as soon as you save, with nothing to reprint.
Can I see how many people scanned my Instagram code?
Yes. Every code has its own stats: on the Free plan, total and unique scans, a 30-day chart, the top 3 countries and devices; Pro adds cities, systems, browsers, languages, a day-by-hour heatmap and a full year. Bots and link previews aren't counted, and linqr doesn't store IP addresses.
Is an Instagram QR code from linqr free?
Yes. The Free plan gives you 3 active dynamic codes with unlimited scans and link changes, the full design with logos and frames, and PNG, JPG, WEBP and SVG files up to 2048 px. It isn't a trial and needs no credit card, just a free account. Pro, at $4.99 a month, adds unlimited codes, PDF and EPS files and full stats.
Does an Instagram QR code open the app or the browser?
Usually the app. When someone scans a linqr code, the phone opens the instagram.com link, and if the Instagram app is installed, the phone typically hands the link to the app. Without the app, the profile opens in the browser, where Instagram may ask people to log in to see more.
Can one QR code show both my Instagram and my Facebook?
Not directly, because a QR code opens one link. Either make two codes, one per profile, or point one code at a link-in-bio page or your website that lists both. The linqr Free plan has 3 active codes, so separate codes for Instagram and Facebook fit within it.
Can I make a QR code for a private Instagram account?
You can, but it's rarely useful in print. The code opens your profile, and a private account shows posts only to followers you've approved, so people see a locked profile and a follow request button. For flyers, packaging and signs, a public business account works much better.
What frame text works best on an Instagram QR code?
Short, action-first text such as “FOLLOW US”, “FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM” or your handle, like “@YOURSHOP”. In linqr you type it under Frame, in Frame text. If the code opens a specific reel or giveaway post, say so: “WATCH THE REEL” tells people what they'll get.
Can I switch my Instagram QR code to TikTok later?
Yes. Every linqr code is dynamic: open My codes, choose Change link and paste your TikTok profile address. Printed stickers and flyers open TikTok right away. If you used the Instagram logo in the middle, the old print still shows it, so consider a neutral logo if you plan to switch.
