Free QR codes with no trial and no expiry date

linqr gives you free dynamic QR codes with no trial and no expiry date: the Free plan has no day counter, no scan limit and needs no credit card. You can change the link behind each code as often as you like, so the sticker on your door or the postcard in the mail stays useful when your website or menu changes.

Why so many free QR codes stop working

A QR code has no expiration date built in. It's a pattern that stores text, usually a web address. Codes “expire” when they run through a generator's server and that server stops redirecting. Three common reasons:

  • Free trials. The dynamic code works for a set period, such as 14 or 30 days. After that it stops redirecting or shows a page asking you to upgrade.
  • Scan caps. The free plan covers a set number of scans per month. The better your flyer performs, the sooner the code stops.
  • Subscriptions. The code works while you pay. When the subscription ends, the provider switches it off or sends people to its own page.

The painful part is the timing: you find out after the print run, when the postcards are mailed and the stickers are up. Here's how to spot a trial-based code before you print.

No trial, no expiry date, no card, unlimited scans

Every linqr code holds a short link like onsonara.com/q/k7x2mz9. When someone scans it, our server sends the phone straight to your link with a 302 redirect. No interstitial page, no ad, no countdown: your customer sees your menu or sign-up form, not our banner.

  • No trial. The Free plan isn't a trial, and there's no day counter in your dashboard.
  • No expiry date. A linqr code has no expiry date set on it, on Free or on Pro.
  • No card. You sign up with Google or email and password, and we never ask for card details on Free.
  • Unlimited scans. Scans don't count toward any limit on any plan, and there are no per-scan fees.
  • Your call. You can pause or delete a code yourself at any time in My codes.

What the Free plan includes

Free is the full generator, not a demo, and there's no credit card. You create a free account (with Google, or email and password) because every code needs an owner who can change its link later.

  • 3 active dynamic codes at a time.
  • Unlimited link changes. The new address works right away and the printed code stays the same.
  • The full design toolkit: ready-made styles, colors, shapes, your logo and frames with a label such as “SCAN ME”.
  • PNG, JPG, WEBP and SVG files up to 2048 px.
  • Stats: total scans, unique scans, a 30-day chart, your top 3 countries and device types.

When Pro makes sense

Pro removes the active code limit and adds PDF and EPS files, a 4096 px size and 365 days of stats. It's $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year; see QR code generator pricing for the full comparison.

You don't need Pro to try linqr or to run a few codes for a small business. Pro is worth it when:

  • you need more than 3 active codes at a time,
  • a print shop asks for PDF or EPS files with a set print size,
  • you want a full year of stats with cities, hours and CSV export.

You can cancel any time on the Plan page with Cancel subscription. The terms of service, linked in the footer, set out what happens to codes when Pro ends.

Static codes have no expiry date either, but you can't change them

A static code stores your address directly in the pattern. No server sits in between, so it doesn't depend on any service. The catch: you can't edit it, so a new menu or the end of a promotion means reprinting.

We compare both in static vs dynamic QR codes. A linqr code gives you both: it has no expiry date, and you can change the link.

What can still break any QR code

  • A dead destination. A deleted file, a closed profile or an expired domain. With a dynamic code you simply change the QR code destination to the new address.
  • A deleted code. Deleting is permanent, and anyone who scans the code sees “This code is no longer active”. For a break, use Pause and later Resume.
  • A bad print. Too small, low contrast, no margin or a glossy surface. No generator can fix that later, so check these before the file goes to the printer:
  1. Open the destination link on your phone

In a private window and signed out, the way a customer will see it.

  2. Look for Scans correctly in the creator

The creator reads the preview with a real decoder. If it warns you, click the suggested fix, such as Fix contrast.

  3. Leave a margin around the code

Set Margin (quiet zone) in the More tab. We recommend 4 modules.

  4. Print a proof and scan it

At the final size, on the final paper. A 2048 px PNG prints about 6.8 in (17 cm) wide at 300 dpi, and an SVG scales to any size.

  5. Name the code

A name in My codes (“Fall postcard”, “Table 4”) helps you find the right code when the link needs to change.

Questions

Is linqr really free?

Yes. The Free plan costs nothing, has no trial and no end date, and doesn't ask for a credit card. You get 3 active dynamic codes, unlimited scans and link changes, logos and frames, downloads up to 2048 px and 30 days of stats. Pro is optional, for more codes, vector files and longer stats.

Do free linqr QR codes expire?

No. linqr codes have no expiration date, and there's no trial on the Free plan, so no code is waiting for a trial to run out. You can pause or delete a code yourself at any time. The page it points to has to stay online too; if it moves, change the link in My codes.

Is there a scan limit on the Free plan?

No. Any number of people can scan a Free code, and scans never count toward a cap or cost extra. Free limits only the number of active codes (3 at a time) and how far back your stats go (30 days). Bots and link previews are left out, so they don't inflate your numbers.

Do I need a credit card to get free QR codes with no trial?

No. linqr never asks for card details on the Free plan. You create an account with Google or with email and password, and you get 3 active dynamic codes, unlimited scans and link changes right away. A card only comes into play if you choose to upgrade to Pro.

Can I use free QR codes for my business?

Yes. Commercial use is allowed on every plan, including Free, and you don't need to credit linqr. The code, its design and your logo belong to you, whether it goes on menus, packaging, yard signs or trade show banners. Just keep the link pointing where people expect.

Why does a free QR code with no expiry date need an account?

Because a dynamic code needs an owner. Your account lets you change the link, pause the code and see its stats, and it keeps anyone else from editing it. The preview works without an account; you create a free one, with Google or email and password, when you download.

What happens if the website behind my QR code goes offline?

The code keeps redirecting, but people land on a dead page. That's not the code expiring, it's the destination. With linqr you fix it without reprinting: open My codes, click Change link and paste the new address, and every printed copy opens it right away. Check the destination on a phone now and then, especially for files and shared folders.

Can my short link ever be given to someone else?

No. Each short link, such as onsonara.com/q/k7x2mz9, belongs to one code for good. We never reuse a code, not even after it's deleted, so an old flyer can't suddenly send people to a stranger's page. A deleted code simply shows that it's no longer active.

Can I switch a free QR code off for a while without deleting it?

Yes. In My codes, choose Pause. Anyone who scans the code sees a page saying it's temporarily switched off, and paused scans aren't counted. Click Resume whenever you're ready and the code redirects again, with the same link and stats. A paused code still counts toward the 3 active codes on Free.

Do free linqr codes show ads before opening my link?

No. Free codes work exactly like Pro codes: the scan goes straight to your address with a 302 redirect, with no ad, countdown or upgrade page in between. We don't put our branding in front of your content, and the code itself carries only the design you chose.

What happens to my QR codes if I delete my account?

They're deleted with it, so printed copies stop redirecting and show that the code is no longer active. An active Pro subscription is canceled right away. Account deletion is permanent, so if you just want to stop paying, cancel Pro on the Plan page instead of deleting the account.
